HLTM Multi

HLTM – Theater for all. Communication emphasizes multilingualism.

Under the direction of Eva Lange and Carola Unser-Leichtweiß, the “Hessisches Landestheater Marburg” presents itself with a new corporate identity. Theater for all, an open house that welcomes people of all backgrounds and aims to address them with multilingual and approachable communication. Because the HLTM sees itself as a place of open discourse, a voice within the urban community. The HLTM gets involved and has something to say. Therefore, the new visual identity focuses on the written word. The used poster font creates a distinctive visual identity that significantly and consistently shapes the appearance of all communication materials. A photo concept matching the theme of each season and an annually changing primary color provide the necessary variety. As part of the redesign, a logo was developed that reduces the theater’s long name to the abbreviation HLTM, allowing it to be used as a prominent sender.

For the season motto “In Bewegung – on the move”, René Fietzek directs the ensemble and the theater as a place in constant motion. A place that celebrates life in the face of death and enables shared experiences and emotions.

The photo series by Neven Allgeier depicts the diverse “realities” within urban society. From the halls of a fraternity to a traveling circus, and even the mayor’s office, the ensemble leads the audience to unconventional places.

The season motto “Konstruktion Hoffen” explores how fragile and yet multifaceted our reality can be, urging us to hope for and collectively construct a better world.

Artist Annika Liscke, known for her work with clients such as German Vogue and Zeit Magazine, translates this year’s theme into collages that depict identities as fragile constructions, refusing to adhere to a single definition. The portraits of the actors used in these collages are captured by René Fietzek.

The yearning for that one moment capable of altering the course of events – be it in global affairs or on a personal level. Annette Hausschild, photographer from the Ostkreuz agency, embarked on a quest to capture this sentiment, translating the season’s theme into a series of images brimming with a sense of renewal and departure.
