Grube Messel

Grube Messel – UNESCO World Heritage Site

Since 1995, Grube Messel has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its significant fossil findings. The new information center at the former oil shale quarry showcases this remarkable location, providing insights into habitats from long-gone eras and allowing visitors to experience the treasures of the earth through sophisticated media presentations. Visitors are immersed in the sensory, iridescent world of the Eocene jungle until they reach the heart of the exhibition, where the original fossils are showcased as valuable treasures of the quarry. The various graphic worlds were directly applied by us onto over 490 m² of exposed concrete surfaces.
